Menno Krant lay in his hospital bed drawing pictures of nurses, doctors and fellow patients to occupy himself during a visit where he was scheduled for some routine testing. Upon observing his sketches, the doctors determined he might be distressed, or possibly even suicidal, and prescribed sedatives. Menno believes it was an allergic reaction between the medication and the anaesthetic that caused his heart to stop. He was revived, and emergency quintuple bypass surgery was performed. The operation was a success and the artist was given new life."
